Ever wished you could relive the days of the knights of old here in Final Fantasy 14? While the Foundation did have a tavern of sorts, it didn’t have the authentic feel of what a true medieval tavern would be, and that didn’t stop this tavern from trying to make one a reality. Head owned by Rimesrea Yselea, she had the most ingenious idea to create a tavern that not only looks like a medieval style interior, but also feel like one. Now how can you make a place feel medieval? Well my fellow reader, let’s find out together.

Built in an apartment, there were of course limitations, but where we see constrictions, the owners saw opportunities for a unique design. Built upon brick and mortar, the atmosphere initially felt dark and grey, however it was soon dissipated by the warm glow of the candles illuminating each table, giving a sense of warmth as the orange flame beckons you to come closer. Torches hang high along the walls, burning ever so gently, giving the interior even more glow, carefully drawing out the roughness of stone that they illuminate, yet smoothening them out as you glance upon them for a clearer perspective.

There is also stage at the front of the tavern, where bards occasionally make an appearance, and play music that dances within your ears, pleasantly guiding you to your next drink as you drift off to better times.

Having a spacious entrance allows groups to enter without fear of being cramped up, and having the bear rug gives a soft touch to anyone’s feet as they walk to the nearest table for a seat. However, should you want a more intimate time with your food and drink, there is a counter with stools, allowing you the privacy of being one with your mug and pastry. The warm fireplace accompanies you while you stare deeply to reflect upon your day, allowing the fire to swoop you away into the cradle of the tavern.

The tavern is always bustling, with new and old faces coming alike, often staying due to the warm aura that both owners emit through their interactions with the customers. A long table also invites people to sit together, and allow people to converse with one another, often sharing their experiences of daily turmoil and comforting each other in return.

If you ever feel too cluttered by the modern hustle and bustle, why not step away from it all for just a moment and enjoy some good ol’ fashioned wine and dine, having one hand a drink, and the other hand, a friend.
